This historic Savannah wedding has some serious romance vibes.
Catherine and David had their Savannah wedding ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica of St John the Baptist, which is right next to Lafayette Square Park. Any of the squares in historic downtown Savannah are gorgeous for photos really, but Lafayette is one of my faves because of that big green fountain.
Groom Portraits at DeSoto Hotel in Savannah GA
David started his Savannah wedding day at the nearby DeSoto Hotel before heading over to the square for some portraits. David had gotten his groomsmen monogrammed leather koozies, super classy. The guys had a few minutes to enjoy a celebratory cigar while giving last minute words of encouragement and congratulations. Shortly after, they were promptly sent away so we could get some photos of Catherine and her bridesmaids.
Catherine looked so elegant in her v-neck ballgown wedding dress. It was perfectly complimented by her fur shrug and eucalyptus rose bouquet. And that veil! And of course, Catherine just make the whole ensemble look effortless. The girls had their own celebration with toasts in the trolley they had rented. Side note, trolleys are probably the coolest way to travel downtown during a Savannah wedding. And they’re great for photo ops.
Romantic Knights of Columbus Reception at Savannah Wedding
Before heading over to the ceremony, I stopped by the Knights of Columbus to get some detail shots of the reception. Wow, did they do an amazing job with these details! Number one tip if you’re looking for a romantic vibe, buy all the candles. If you think you have enough candles, get more… All of the tables had candles in gold mercury glass votives, candelabras, and gold accents everywhere to better reflect that romantic glow. *Swoon* I really do love every wedding I get to photograph, but the weddings with an abundance of candles are always so dreamy and fun to work.
After the ceremony, we naturally headed right back to Lafayette Square Park for some formal photos of Catherine and David. And don’t they look gorgeous? Obviously portrait time is my favorite part of the wedding day. Couples are always so excited and giddy just being around each other, which definitely shows in the photos. What can I say, photographing happy people is everything it’s cracked up to be!
